Central U.P. Regional Prosperity Committee
The Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Regional Commission (CUPPAD) was awarded funding by the State of Michigan to develop a 10-year Regional Prosperity Plan fur the six-county region. The State of Michigan developed the Regional Prosperity Initiative (RPI) to encourage regional collaboration of organizations in a time of dwindling resources, overlapping goals, and competing priorities. The RPI will serve as the vehicle for access to all state funding based on collaboration with planning organizations, nonprofit partners, workforce boards, economic development departments, adult education programs and institutions of higher education. With the funding received through the RPI, CUPPAD brings together representatives from workforce development, higher education, adult education, economic development, and transportation organizations to explore how to coordinate resources among private, public, and nonprofit organizations. This effort will empower leaders in the central six counties of the Upper Peninsula to achieve economic prosperity through regional collaboration.
